24 countries including Armenia paid their 2009 regular UN budget assessments in full

PanARMENIAN.Net - As of today, only 24 countries paid their 2009 regular UN budget assessments in full, in spite of UN regulations.

Only 20 countries paid budget contributions on time, Georgia and Armenia included. In early February 4 countries, including Latvia fulfilled their financial obligations.

Each state's assessment is determined as a part of Organization's total expenditures. The contribution scale is established by General Assembly every 3 years based on economic development level and population size of member states.

UN member financial obligations consist of three parts: regular budget assessments, peace keeping contributions and International Tribunal maintenance expenditures. Recently a new estimate was introduced for capital repair of UN headquarters in New York, UN news center reports.
