Twelfth person dies of alcohol poisoning in ArmeniaSeptember 2, 2020 - 11:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A twelfth person has died of alcohol poisoning in Armenia, RFE/RL Armenian Service cited Health Minister spokeswoman Alina Nikoghosyan as saying on Wednesday, September 2, in two separate strings of alcohol intoxication in Yerevan and the neighboring Armavir province. A total of 23 people were admitted to hospitals across the country between August 31 and September 1, 12 of them dying shortly afterwards. A spokeswoman for the State Service For Food Safety, Anush Harutyunyan said on Tuesday that the cause for the intoxication in Armavir was most probably homemade vodka. Those in Yerevan, meanwhile, had drunk alcohols, health authorities said. Several patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across Yerevan, some of them in a serious or critical condition. One person was initially hospitalized in Armenia Medical Center, but refused medical assistance and was discharged. The police have already identified the suspected vodka producer.
