Official: Azerbaijan killed five Karabakh civilians after ceasefire came into force

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Azerbaijani military has killed at least five civilians since the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh came into force, Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan revealed on Sunday, October 11.

Azerbaijan's aggression left 25 civilians dead and 102 others wounded in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) between September 27 and October 11, Beglaryan added.

Immediately before a humanitarian ceasefire began on October 10, Azerbaijan launched an infiltration attempt, shooting four civilians in the process, Beglaryan said.

“In particular, on the afternoon of October 10, members of a subversive group that invaded the city of Hadrut killed at least four civilians - Misha Movsisyan (who has disabilities), his mother Anahit Movsisyan, Nver Grigoryan and Artyom Mirzoyan. There is preliminary data that there are other victims among the civilians in Hadrut. The circumstances are still being investigated,” Beglaryan's office said.

On October 8, Azerbaijan shelled the iconic Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in the city of Shushi, leaving residents and foreign journalists injured.

Also, two civilians have been killed and two others wounded in Armenia since the beginning of hostilities.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages, as well as the iconic Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi. Before a humanitarian ceasefire could begin on October 10, Azerbaijan launched a new offensive and struck settlements both in Karabakh and Armenia.
