Armenia, Iran agree to join forces for major road program

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian ambassador to Iran Artashes Toumanian and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic Rostam Qasemi have discussed joined road and infrastructure projects in Tehran, the Armenian embassy in Iran reveals.

The construction of an alternative road to replace the one passing through pockets of Azerbaijan-controlled territories, as well as the North-South highway and the Persian Gulf-Black Sea transport corridor were on the table on Thursday, October 30.

Revealing that the construction of said alternative road is nearing completion and citing the large road construction program starting in Armenia in 2022, Toumanian used the stressed the importance of Iranian companies' participation in the project. Qasemi, meanwhile, conveyed the readiness of the Iranian side for cooperation, noting that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation will continue in the future, new programs will be launched.
