Mississippi recognizes Armenian Genocide

PanARMENIAN.Net - Mississippi becomes the 50th state in the U.S. to recognize the Armenian Genocide, according to a proclamation published by governor Tate Reeves, naming April as Genocide Awareness and Prevention Month.

"The systematic destruction of lives has spanned areas and cultures from Armenia to Darfur, the Holodomor to the Holocaust," Reeves tweeted.

"Genocide has no place in society, and we must do everything we can to prevent it."

he Armenian Genocide has now been recognized by all 50 states, both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress, and the President.

On April 24, 1915, a large group of Armenian intellectuals was rounded up and assassinated in Constantinople by the Ottoman government. On April 24, 2022, Armenians worldwide commemorated the 107th anniversary of the Genocide which continued until 1923. Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians as Genocide. Turkey denies to this day.
