Iran wargames seek to ensure connection with Armenia isn't blocked

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that the Islamic Republic launched wargames to ensure that its border with Armenia will not be blocked.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a TV documentary on Tuesday, October 18, IRNA reports.

"Iran will not permit the blockage of its connection route with Armenia, and in order to secure that objective the Islamic Republic of Iran also launched wargames in that region," the Iranian foreign policy chief said.

Azerbaijan has on multiple occasions spoken about a so-called "corridor" through the southern Armenian province of Syunik that would connect Nakhijevan to the rest of Azerbaijan. The Armenian side, however, has repeatedly denied being involved in negotiations for the provision of a corridor to Azerbaijan, stressing that they have only agreed to unblock transport communications in the region.
