Yerevan mayor resigns

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan mayor Hrachya Sargsyan has resigned, Sargsyan himself revealed on Friday, March 17.

Rumors about Sargsyan’s resignation have been circulating in the media since Thursday but no confirmation was available before now.

Sargsyan who previously served as deputy mayor, took the position of the mayor of the Armenian capital in December 2021 after his predecessor, Hayk Marutyan, was removed from his post.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, will run for the post from the ruling Civil Contract party.
