Moscow accuses West of attempts to oust Russia from Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Washington and Brussels are seeking Armenia’s withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday, March 5.

“We know that Washington and Brussels, under ephemeral promises, are seeking Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO and the EAEU, the withdrawal of the Russian military base and border guards, [from Armenia]” the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the volume of grant support from Brussels cannot compare with the “multibillion-dollar benefits” that Armenia receives from interaction with Moscow and within the EAEU and the CIS.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry stated that the West wants to turn Armenia into an instrument for implementing its “extremely dangerous” plans in the South Caucasus.

In March, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Yerevan had “frozen” participation in the CSTO. According to him, Yerevan does not have a permanent representative in the CSTO, does not participate in CSTO negotiations at the highest and highest levels, but does not block decisions made.
