FAIR BURNT BY CONFLAGRATION IN YEREVANJune 5, 2002 - 23:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A fair was burnt in the South-West district of Yerevan due to a conflagration last evening. As reported by "Arminfo" agency, the fire was localized by 10.00 p.m. According to the preliminary data, some one thousand square meter area, on which trade halls were situated, was burnt. Among other departments there were those in the fair, which sold golden ware, as well as varnishes and paints. The ignition took place right there. The thick black smoke, which wrapped up the fair at once and could be seen from afar and the fact that the fire could not be localized within two hours, was just conditioned by burning chemicals. Clothes departments were not harmed practically. Instead the jewelry, varnish, leather and technical equipment departments were burnt almost in full. 16 fire engines worked at the scene of the incident. According to the preliminary information, only one person got a slight burn in the fire. Another got a light suffocation from the smoke. The causes of the fire are not reported. But the investigation is already being held and the officers of the Prosecutor's office and city department of internal affairs of Yerevan are at the scene of the incident.
