Trump says Iran may get second chance on nuclear deal

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Donald Trump, commenting on Israel’s recent strikes on Iranian territory, stated that Tehran might still have an opportunity to reach an agreement on its nuclear program. He made the statement via the Truth Social platform.

"Two months ago, I gave Iran a 60-day deadline to make a deal [on the nuclear program]. They should have done it. Today is day 61. I told them exactly what to do, but they just couldn’t make it happen. Now, they might have a second chance," said the president, as reported by TASS.

In a brief conversation with CNN, Trump reiterated U.S. support for Israel, calling the Israeli airstrikes against Iran "a very successful attack."

"We obviously support Israel, and we’ve supported it like no one ever has," Trump stated, according to CNN.

He also mentioned he had warned Iran in advance: "Iran should’ve listened when I said — I don’t know if you’re aware — I gave them 60 days, and today is day 61."

Trump urged Iran to return to the negotiating table: "They now need to come to the table and make a deal before it’s too late. It will be too late for them. You know, the people I dealt with are dead — the hardliners," he added, without specifying whom he meant.

When asked whether these individuals died in the Israeli strike, Trump replied sarcastically: "They didn’t die from the flu, they didn’t die from Covid."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. did not participate in or support the strikes.

Israeli air forces targeted at least six military bases near Tehran. Iranian state media reported strikes on residential neighborhoods in Tehran and other cities. Specifically, the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Tehran was also hit. Iran’s General Staff warned of a devastating response to the Israeli regime’s actions.
