"ARMENIA-DIASPORA" SECOND PAN-ARMENIAN FORUM OVER

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Armenia-diaspora" second pan-Armenian forum has been finished. As reported by "Arminfo" agency, almost three thousand delegates, 1600 of which represented the Armenian diaspora of 48 countries of the world, participated in the forum. The share of the deputies from Russia formed the most part among them - 200 persons. Besides plenary sessions, discussions of political, economic, information and information technology topics, as well as developing Armenia-diaspora relations were held within the framework of the forum. Programs of computerization of 1600 secondary schools of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, creation of all-Armenian center for studying the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915, placement of Armenian studies program to guide teachers from Armenia and the diaspora, creation of a commission to correct syllabi for the entire Armenians were passed in the course of the forum. Decisions were also made to create data bank including some 50 thousand students of Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh and the diaspora to create a joint network of the Armenian scientific potential, create a modern regional medical center in Armenia, as well as open the diaspora museum in Yerevan. The aforementioned projects are planned to be realized before 2005. In the course of the discussion of the topics a decision was also made to create a pan-Armenian scientific fund, as well as a body, the task of which will be coordination of Armenia-diaspora relations in all spheres. The forum participants decided that the term of the next forum would be defined by the Armenian government. At the suggestion of the President, it should be held no later than in three years. The forum participants passed a final declaration. President Robert Kocharian addressed the delegates with concluding remarks. The forum was concluded with festive concert at Sardarapat historical complex.
