Zakharova says Lavrov, Simonyan to discuss ties and region

PanARMENIAN.Net - Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on February 5 during an official visit to Moscow. The announcement was made by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

“The parties will discuss bilateral cooperation and regional issues,” Zakharova stated, according to Sputnik Armenia.

She added that “special attention will be paid to Moscow–Yerevan cooperation within joint Eurasian structures and dialogue in this direction.”

Commenting on Russia’s possible participation in the TRIPP initiative, Simonyan previously called the idea “somewhat absurd,” saying it would “essentially mean doing everything to prevent TRIPP from working.” He made this remark when asked whether the topic might come up during the February 5 visit.
