ARMENIA SHOULD BE CONSISTENT IN INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY ONWARD, TOO

PanARMENIAN.Net - «Arminfo» agency reports that Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian stated today that Armenia should continue being consistent in the cause of the international recognition of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey, which in his opinion, would contribute to establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey. The work in this direction will continue. The foreign department head accentuated that the fact itself that the question whether there had been a genocide or not was discussed in Turkey might be regarded a positive phenomenon. Vardan Oskanian also reported that he met the coordinator of the Armenian-Turkish Reconciliation Commission David Philipps, who is in Yerevan. The parties discussed the question of establishing diplomatic relations between Yerevan and Ankara without prior conditions. Philipps was interested in the opportunities of warming bilateral relations by means of track two diplomacy. Let us remind that earlier Armenian President's press secretary Vahe Gabriyelian noted that Armenia welcomed contacts between different political and non-governmental organizations of Armenia and Turkey, but at the same time official Yerevan was for holding official dialogue at the state level.
