JOHN PAUL II TO VISIT BAKU

PanARMENIAN.Net - The visit of Pope John Paul II to Baku is planned in May. The exact data of the visit is not known yet. Instead it is known that President Heydar Aliyev will give a ceremonial banquet in honor of the head of Catholic Church in "Gyulistan" palace. The Pontiff is expected to meet with the head of the Muslim department of Transcaucasia sheik ul-Islam Allahshukyur Pashazade, with whom he will discuss the opportunities of cooperation between religious organizations, questions of struggle against terror, as well as the ways of settling Karabakh conflict. Baku mass media reports that John Paul II will visit shehid alley - a memorial of the victims of the Karabakh war. Let us note that thugs, who massacred Armenians of Baku in January 1990 and were shot by the Soviet troops, are buried at shehid alley, too. Is Vatican aware of this fact?
