AZERI PARLIAMENTARIANS COMPLAINED OF SECRETARY GENERAL WALTER SCHWIMMER TO PACE PRESIDENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Members of Azeri delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe have addressed PACE President Peter Schieder a complaint of CE Secretary General Walter Schwimmer, who demanded in his speech at the Assembly session that Azerbaijan authorities immediately release all political prisoners. Baku considers that just Schwimmer's statement caused the change in the moods of the deputies, who as a consequence voted for adoption of the report, containing a call on Azeri authorities to fulfill the obligations undertaken while entering the Council of Europe. Let us remind that Walter Schwimmer appeared after some deputies had made efforts to justify official Baku actions. He literally said, "I am the Secretary General of this organization and using my authority I call on Azerbaijan Government to follow the recommendations of independent experts."
