REDUCTION OF POVERTY LEVEL REGISTERED IN ARMENIA LAST YEAR

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to the data of UN experts, reduction of poverty level is registered in Armenia during the recent years. As reported by "Arminfo" agency, the number of extremely poor population in 2001 came down 5% in comparison with the indicator of 1998. In the words of the chief of the representation of UN Development Program in Armenia Astkhik Mirzakhanian, the extremely needy families made 11-12% of the entire number of the families of the Republic in 1997-1998, but according to the data of 2001 their number does not exceed 6-7%. Let us note that according to UN standards the families whose daily per capita income does not exceed 1 USD are considered extremely poor.
