Georgian authorities bring new charges against Vahagn Chakhalyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian authorities brought new charges against Javakhk activist Vahagn Chakhalyan.

The prosecution uses Chakhalyan's “Prison and political notes” book as a ground for a new criminal case. The Akhalkalaki police allegedly found proofs allowing to bring new accusations against Mr. Chakhalyan, who has already been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.

Yerkir Union strongly condemns the new wave political repressions against Vahagn Chakhalyan. “These accusations appear as an attempt to intimidate Javakheti Armenians before the elections to local self-government due on May 30, 2010,” the Union said.
