Pavel Avetisyan: Armenia is among countries with ancient evidences of agriculture's development

PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 30, a report on Modern Archaeological Discoveries and Their Importance for the Development of Armenian Studies was delivered at the RA National Academy of Sciences.

Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography Pavel Avetisyan and Professor of the University of California (UCLA) Gregory Areshian presented the results of archaeological works carried out in Armenia in 2008-2009. Specifically, they referred to excavations in Areni-1 cave and the discovery of the oldest leather shoe there.

Professor Areshian also commented on the mystery of perfectly preserved evidences of vital activity for over 5000 years. He said that it is a sensational phenomenon, though it is not well studied.

According to Avetisyan, oldest (after Israel and Palestine) evidences of agriculture development have been revealed on Armenia's territory as well.
