Import of expensive cars decreased by 2 times in Armenia by end of first quarter of 2010

PanARMENIAN.Net - 8,137 vehicles were imported to Armenia in the first half of 2010 against 9,143 cars during the same period of 2009. According to data of the RA State Revenue Committee, customs fees obtained due to import of cars totaled AMD 10.220bln against 10.955bln in 2009.

738 cars out of 8137 vehicles imported to Armenia were produced in Russia. It should be noted that the number of cars in the value of up to $5000 totaled 3303 against 5680 in 2009; the cost of 2558 cars fluctuated from $5-10thous, while the number of cars within this value totaled 6255 in 2009; the number of cars in the value of $10-15thous. and $15-30thous. totaled 812 and 902 against 2120 and 2198 in 2009 respectively.

Meanwhile, the number of cars in the value of over $30thous totaled 562 against 1043 in 2009. Thus, import of expensive cars decreased by two times by the end of the first half of 2010, what shows that our citizens do not dare purchase luxurious cars in the post-crisis period.
