ECHR launches hearings on claim of Minas Sargsyan against Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the second half of September 15, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) hosted hearings on the case Sargsyan against Azerbaijan.

In his claim submitted to the ECHR in 2006, plaintiff Minas Sargsyan, a former resident of Gulistan village of Shahumyan region of NKR, presented the circumstances, which forced him to leave the native village.

Beside, the plaintiff cited a range of violations of the European Convention on Human Rights by Azerbaijan.

After the hearings, Sargsyan’s lawyer Narine Gasparyan said that the court basically inquired about Azerbaijan’s powers in Gulistan village, as well as the date of claim’s submission.

The issue of Azerbaijan’s control over Gulistan village was raised during the hearings, while lawyers representing Azerbaijan’s interests in the case were unable to soundly reject the fact of Azerbaijan’s control over the village.
