Konstantin Simonov: it is possible that Baku may change gas for Karabakh in relations with Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director General of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov said that there are a lot of problems in the Armenian-Russian relations, despite a range of statements.

“I would mention three challenges referring to Armenia and Russia. First, it is Azerbaijan,” Simonov told during Moscow-Yerevan TV space bridge on Russia-Armenia: new level of relations.

“Over past years Baku has sharply increased oil extraction. Now, with the launch of Shah Deniz projet, gas recovery will also grow. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan’s resource base is also limited. Russia has to intensify its relations with Baku on the background of the West’s search for alternative energy resources,” the Russian expert said.

According to him, the situation will be rather uncommon, if Baku sets tougher terms in an attempt to change gas matters for Karabakh.

Konstantin Simonov pointed to Turkey, as a second challenge in the Armenian-Russian relations.

“Turkey is trying to gain economic concessions from Russia. It should be noted that Russia and Turkey are engaged in a dubious and complicate game.

The deadlock situation in the Armenian-Russian economic relations is the third challenge. Yerevan and Moscow should think of new projects for implementation to find out a way from the deadlock,” concluded Simonov.
