WTO director general positive Armenia’s activity

PanARMENIAN.Net - The WTO government procurement committee will discuss Armenia’s committee membership bid during the December 6-10 meetings in Geneva, where Armenia will be represented by Economy Ministry officials Varos Simonyan and Karen Brutyan.

Armenia undertook to join the committee in 2003, as one of its WTO membership commitments. Armenian delegations attended committee’s meetings in 2009 and 2010 as well as held talks with the United States, Switzerland, Japan, Norway and other WTO member countries.

The issue is also on the agenda of negotiations on comprehensive free trade agreement between Armenia and the EU.

It’s worth noting that WTO director general Pascal Lamy and other officials praised Armenia’s activity for the purpose.
