Vahe Vardanyan: 265,000 cars insured in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Financial System Policy and Financial Stability Department of the Central Bank of Armenia Vahe Vardanyan said that 265,000 cars have already been insured in Armenia.

According to updated data of the country’s insurance companies, 65% of car owners have purchased policies of the mandatory vehicle insurance, Vardanyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, around 7,000-10,000 agreements are signed daily under the compulsory vehicle insurance after the New Year holidays.

“80-85% of cars will be insured in Armenia soon, what is a good index in the global practice,” Vardanyan said.

He noted that insurance companies have already received 1,200 calls with respect to around 750-800 car accidents. Besides, 350 applications have been submitted, while positive decisions have been adopted with respect to 120 applications. The average amount of compensations for these accidents will amount to AMD 140,000.
