Baku continues extermination of Avars, Lezgians and Talyshes, remains unpunished

PanARMENIAN.Net - The incident in Hrah-Uba village in not the only one in Azerbaijan, assimilation or expulsion of indigenous population being the main directions of the country’s domestic policy. At present, the majority of aboriginal nations’ leaders are in political emigration or behind the bars, according to Political Development Center director.

As Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the official Baku, representing the intellectual elite on indigenous nations as ideologists of extremist directions of Islam, continues extermination of the Avars, the Lezgians and the Talyshes and remains unpunished, similarly to extermination of Azerbaijan-residing Armenians.

“Fortunately, Azerbaijan’s military aggression aimed at banishment of Armenians from Artsakh ended in failure. Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, proclaimed in full accordance with international law, succeeded in resisting Azerbaijani army, thus retaining the independent and sovereign state. To Azerbaijan’s indigenous population still under the dominion of Azeri dictatorship, Artsakh’s example serves a source of inspiration,” he stressed.

Residents of Hrah-Uba village located on the territory of Azerbaijani held a rally in Makhachkala, demanding protection of their rights as Russian citizens. “Azerbaijan demands from the village residents that they immediately accept Azerbaijani citizenship, otherwise threatening with deportation without compensation for property and land that is categorically unacceptable for us. We apply to the authorities of Russia and Dagestan, asking them to secure protection of the constitutional rights of the residents of Hrah-Uba enclave; to stop deportation of the enclave residents and to reunify families, to provide them with the opportunity of unhindered crossing of the state border; and to recognize Hrah-Uba as a Russian territory,” the demonstrators’ declaration read.
