Azadlig opposition newspaper journalist abducted and beaten in BakuApril 5, 2011 - 15:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ramin Deko, journalist of the oppositional Azadlig newspaper was abducted and threatened, and then beaten up by unknown people. On April 3, unknown people shoved Ramin Deko into a car and took him to Mashtagha settlement in the suburbs of Baku. During the conversation with his abductor, Ramin Deko was told “to be smart”, to stop writing articles against the government and think about getting an employment with one of the pro-government newspapers in Azerbaijan. Ramin Deko’s abductors told him that they were unhappy with his involvement in “organizing youth protests.” Ramin Deko did not take that whole incident seriously and even joked about it on his Facebook status. On April 4, at about 9:30 pm two people attacked Ramin Deko when the latter was leaving his office. These two people started beating him until Deko managed to escape by running for his life. Deko’s shirt was torn off, he received injuries on his face. Deko said the attackers continuously punched him in the kidneys. Ramin Deko ran to the editorial office of the Azadlig newspaper at Azerbaijan Publishing House, according Azerireport.
