French expert: leaving Russia in control of Karabakh conflict settlement dangerous

PanARMENIAN.Net - A French expert at Strategic Studies Foundation, analyst Gaits Minasian believes it dangerous to leave Russia in control of Karabakh settlement process.

“France and U.S. missed the moment, and just at that point Russia took control of the situation,” the analyst said in an interview to Armenian reporters.

The analyst is certain that starting November 2008, Russia has been conducting another process parallel to OSCE MG activities.

As he noted, neither Armenia, Azerbaijan or Russia are satisfied with Madrid Principles.

“Moscow is opposed to introduction of international forces in the region, Azerbaijan is against the self-determination of Karabakh people, Armenia disagrees to pull off the army from Karabakh territory. Yet, officially, all those countries gave positive response to the Principles. Both France and U.S. are aware of it but are practicing caution,” Minasian said.
