KOCHARIAN AND ALIYEV ARE ENCOURAGED BY THE RESULTS OF THEIR MEETING IN PARIS
08.02.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Department of State's Deputy Special Negotiator for Nagorno Karabakh, Kenneth MacLean Hillas, Jr., briefed more than 60 Pennsylvania Armenian activists on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mediamax was informed in the Armenian Assembly of America. "The presidents were encouraged by the end results of the meetings in Paris and agreed to meet again on the border of their countries", Hillas said.
Hillas said he was pleased at the results of the talks between the two presidents and is "cautiously optimistic." He said that he hoped Kocharian and Aliyev would take advantage of the current "window of opportunity." "There will be no peace agreement without compromises from both countries. Both presidents will need to gain popular support in their respective countries before a settlement can be reached", he added. --0--
