The country will formally join the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at the upcoming 16th ministerial of the organization, to be held in Bali, Indonesia on May 25-27, Foreign Ministry spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said. Until now Azerbaijan has had the observer status in the organization. The NAM is an international organization comprising 118 countries on the principles of non-participation in military blocs. NATO and the Warsaw Pact were primarily implied at the time of establishing the organization. The NAM was established by 25 countries at the Belgrade conference in 1961. The organization includes the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as observer countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uruguay, Croatia, and Montenegro, Azernews reported.
