Over 600 guests gathered to honor Charles Aznavour in NY

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 20, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in an event held in honor of renowned French Armenian singer, Armenia’s ambassador to Switzerland Charles Aznavour in New York.

The event was organized by the Fund for Armenian Relief at the initiative of Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, the primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America. It brought together over 600 guests, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, singers Liza Minnelli, Placido Domingo, Celine Dion, Elton John, U.S. Congressmen, representatives of the Armenian community, etc.

Minister Nalbandian said that on September 28 Armenia’s ambassador and national hero Charles Aznavour will give a concert in Olympia Hall of Paris on occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, under the patronage of the Armenian and French Presidents, the RA MFA press service reported.

“Maybe not all our compatriots know who Armenia’s Foreign Minister is, but I strongly believe that every Armenian around the globe is unaware of who Charles Aznavour is,” Minister Nalbandian said, adding that Aznavour’s talent, attitude towards art and life unite Armenians.
