3 judokas to represent Armenia at Moscow Grand Slam 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 26, Armenian judo team will depart for Moscow to participate in the Grand Slam scheduled for May 28-29 and qualify for 2012 London Olympic Games.

Second coach Arthur Gevorgyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that bronze winner of World Championship and World Cup winner Hovhannes Davtyan and Gor Harutyunyan (both in 60kg weight category) and World Cup winner Armen Nazaryan (66kg) will represent Armenia at the tournament.

Afterwards, the Armenian sportsmen will have a three-day training session with judokas from 60 countries. “Upon completion, Harutyunyan will be back to Armenia to prepare for the European Youth Judo Cup, and Davtyan and Nazaryan will leave for Bucharest to participate in next leg of Men’s World Cup on June 4 and 5,” Gevorgyan said.

Davtyan and Nazaryan will return to Armenia in June 9. “The judokas will have a rest for several days, and then will move to Rio de Janeiro to participate in the next qualification tournament scheduled for June 19,” the coach added.
