Tehran calls for better cooperation with YerevanJune 26, 2011 - 16:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili has called on regional countries to be vigilant against interference by foreign forces. Jalili made the remark in a Saturday meeting with his Armenian counterpart Arthur Baghdasaryan, who is in the Iranian capital of Tehran to attend the International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism. The Iranian official called for better cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan in all spheres, stating that the region needs peace, security, and economic development. The secretary of Armenian National Security Council, for his part, commended the role of the Islamic Republic in providing security in the region. The two sides also discussed ways to bolster bilateral ties in strategic fields such as transportation and energy. The Armenian delegation, headed by Baghdasaryan, is scheduled to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of the two-day conference in Tehran. Baghdasaryan also extended an official invitation to Jalili to visit Armenia, Press TV reported.
