Emergency service to be established in Armenia

Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan met with NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai in Yerevan.

The two men expressed satisfaction with the current level of Armenia-NATO cooperation, however, stressing the necessity of reforms in a number of directions. As Mr. Baghdasaryan pointed out in this context, formation of an emergency service in Armenia similar to European 211 or American 911 rescue services is envisaged.

Among reforms planned are police system reforms implemented in cooperation with the EU and OSCE, as well as struggle against cybercrime and organized crime jointly with NATO, Mr. Baghdasaryan said.

The parties went on to discuss regional issues, with Mr. Baghdasaryan noting the unacceptability of the forceful resolution of Karabakh conflict, NSC press service reported.
