France speculates new Finance Minister

France is expected to name a new Finance Minister to replace Christine Lagarde, who is leaving to take up the top job at the International Monetary Fund next week.

An announcement of Lagarde's replacement could come as early as midday Wednesday after France's weekly cabinet meeting. Lagarde takes up her new post on Tuesday, following the resignation of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is facing sexual assault charges in New York.

According to AP, it's unclear who her successor will be. Possible candidates whose names have emerged in media speculation are current Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire, Budget Minister Francois Baroin and Higher Education Minister Valerie Pecresse.
