Expert: approaches to horticulture must be changed in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian farmers are to change their approaches to horticulture, according to Foreign Relations Executive of the Rural Development Program at RA Ministry of Agriculture, Alexander Kalantaryan.

International scientific conference on apricots cultivation organized by International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) took place from June 20 to 24 in Armenia.

“These conferences are conducted once in four years, and the decision to hold the event in Armenia was made at 2007 conference in Italy,” the expert told a press conference.

The conference hosted more than 80 great scientist horticulturists from various countries, as well as 50 gardeners from Armenian regions.

Kalantaryan noted that for normal gardening development in Armenia it is necessary to increase the number of hail-suppression equipment, carry out due injection of trees, install trickle irrigation, use fertilizer and pest-killer chemicals properly.
