Armenian MP says ANC hunting for new votes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) is addicted to hunting for new votes, according to the head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group.

As Galust Sahakyan told a news conference in Yerevan, “to gain its end, ANC is using every problem the country is currently facing to prove itself as the best opposition possible.” “Even so, ANC ranks are thinning, with Congress members and leadership leaving it,” he said.

“The authorities are ready to hold talks in accordance with ANC-offered scenario. Yet, they won’t allow ANC to become a sole participant of the dialogue with the opposition. ANC is welcome at negotiations, but the authorities will be the ones in charge,” Sahakyan stressed.

During June 30 rally of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), its leader Levon Ter-Petrossian stated that the dialogue should focus on key issues, specifically, snap elections and establishment of legitimate power in the country. He said that unless the authorities satisfy their demands this time, next time they will demand for the immediate resignation of current President.

Next rally is scheduled for August 1.
