Karen Nazaryan calls UN attention to Baku’s anti-Armenian actionsJuly 19, 2011 - 12:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 18, the permanent representative of Armenia to UN, Ambassador Karen Nazaryan addressed a statement on Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian actions to UN headquarters. In his statement, Mr. Nazaryan called the attention of UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon to continued Azeri violations of ceasefire on the line of contact for over 3 months. As the Ambassador noted, these actions run counter to negotiations for peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict under the aegis of OSCE MG, UN legislation and Helsinki Final Act. The Ambassador also expressed concern over the anti-Armenian propaganda, as an integral part of the country’s foreign policy, noting that by such actions Baku violates its international obligations. According to Mr. Nazaryan, Armenia is determined to continue Karabakh settlement talks in OSCE MG format, as the only productive one. The Ambassador urged Azerbaijan to focus on negotiations instead of spreading unfounded reports and interfering with the mediators’ work, Armenian Foreign Ministry press service reported.
