4 candidates pretend to post of EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

PanARMENIAN.Net - Four candidates have been nominated for post of EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus to replace Peter Semneby, whose mandate ended his on February 28, Trend News reported.

The election of a new Special Representative will be held in September, head of the EU delegation in Baku Roland Kobia said, refusing to name the candidates.

Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced on August 3 her intention to appoint 25 new Heads of the European Union Delegations around the world.

Romanian Ambassador Traian Hristea will assume the post of the head of EU Delegation to Armenia, a French diplomat Jean-Maurice Ripert was appointed as the head of EU Delegation to Turkey.

According to Ms. Ashton, these appointments are part of the 2011 rotation of heads of delegation and include 16 candidates from Member States diplomatic services, 7 from the EEAS and 2 from the European Commission.
