Tigran Sargsyan: next Global Competitiveness Report will rank Armenia higher

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan expressed hope for the next Global Competitiveness Report results to exceed those listed in 2011-2012.

Armenia climbed 6 places in 2011-2012 Global Competitiveness Report to be ranked 92nd among 142 countries.

As the Prime Minister noted prior to parliament sitting, dramatic drop in inflation in 2010-2011 will contribute to the improvement in Armenia’s ranking. Sargsyan pointed out Armenian government’s efforts aimed at the development of business environment in the country as another reason for ranking increase.

The Prime Minister said state policy transparency positioned 35th (+48) and information technologies among strong sectors requiring further support.

The report ranked Armenia 33rd among 142 countries worldwide, with results shown testifying to increased availability of high technologies; the country also climbed 17 positions in education sector.
