Armenian government to reduce gas payments for vulnerable familiesSeptember 15, 2011 - 13:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - At September 15 sitting, the government of Armenia (GOA) confirmed a resolution to partially compensate natural gas costs to ArmRosGasprom in the framework of vulnerable families outreach program. According to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, 2011 program costs will total AMD 1bln. On the initiative of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, starting April 1, gas tariffs for socially vulnerable families was reduced from AMD 132 to 100 per cubic meter of gas for up to 300 cubic meters. Armenian Social Security Ministry's lists of socially vulnerable families are being updated monthly for complete coverage of families in need of governmental support.
