OSCE MG Co-chairs warned Baku against use of force in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs, Bernard Fassier (France), Robert Bradtke (U.S.) and Igor Popov (Russia) warned Azerbaijan against cherishing illusions for military solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, member of the Armenian delegation to OSCE PA said

As Artak Davtyan noted, during a special presentation on the OSCE role in Karabakh conflict settlement, the Co-chairs warned Baku against hoping for ever getting demographic and economic advantage over Armenia to be used in the conflict.”

“The Co-chairs also commented on one of the parties’ refusal to withdraw snipers from contact line. Though unmentioned, it was clear Azerbaijan was implied,” Davtyan said.

“Armenia was urged against using maintenance of status quo to achieve NKR recognition,” he noted.

The head of delegation, Aram Safaryan, in turn, characterized the majority of suggestions advanced during the presentation as balanced and constructive. “The co-chairs supported Armenia’s position on a peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict,” Safaryan said.
