Zvartnots Airport new departure hall put into operation Nov 7 November 5, 2011 - 16:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On November 7 the departure hall of Zvartnots International Ariport new passenger terminal will be put into operation replacing the famous round building, airport spokesman told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. Zvartnots Airport arrival hall was officially introduced into operation on October 5. The official opening ceremony of Zvartnots Airport new terminal was held on September 16, during which Argentinean entrepreneur of Armenian descent Eduardo Eurnekian expressed readiness to foster Armenia's development. The terminal covering 34 000 m² will comprise upscale halls for passengers and diplomats, a check-in hall with 46 desks. The new terminal envisages central heating system, modern high-quality ventilation system, new parking area of 24000 m². Having 9 magnitude earthquake resistance the terminal will continue operating in case of an earthquake. Airport improvement projects have been implemented since 2002 by Armenia International Airports CJSC in accordance with Government provided 30-year concession management. Cost of investment programs total about USD 160 mln. The new terminal will enable the airport to serve about 3.5 mln passengers. Zvartnots Airport currently serves 1.1 million passengers.
