It has also been given an abbreviated name 2018 FIFA World Cup™. The tournament’s official designations are registered FIFA trademarks and are protected by marketing rights and copyright. Any commercial use of these designations is subject to express permission from FIFA. The FIFA Confederations Cup, which Russia will be hosting in 2017, has also gone through the same procedure. The tournament’s official name is FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017. Before the end of the year, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee will unveil its official logo. This logo will be the LOC’s main calling card until the official logos for Russia 2018 have been designed, FIFA official website reported.
