Migrant workers in Russia will have to pay RUB 2500 for language certificate

PanARMENIAN.Net - Migrant workers to Russia will be tested for knowledge of the Russian language.

It will cost them about 2,500 rubles to sit the exams, said Constantine Romodanovsky, head of the Russian Federal Migration Service.

The same sum will be required for citizenship testing.

The Russian parliament passed the bill on November 22. To be allowed to work in the sectors of housing, utilities, trade or social services, migrants will need proved knowledge of the Russian language.

A document on education issued in a former Soviet state before the September 1, 1991 or a state certificate will be considered prove of knowledge of the language, with the requirements below elementary, Vestnik Kavkaza reported.
