Israeli MP: Armenian Genocide should be studied at Israel’s schools

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Genocide should be studied at Israel’s schools, according to the initiator of the debate of Genocide recognition issue.

“Jewish people should be the first to recognize tragedy of the past,” Zahava Gal-On said, expressing hope that Genocide recognition will not harm ties with Turkey.

Today, Dec. 26, Knesset Committee for Education, Culture and Sports is debating the issue of introduction of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. Though the proposal was voiced eight months ago its debate was delayed to December 26.

Following the passage of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial by the French National Assembly, Ankara recalled its ambassador from France.
