Heritage member: majority electoral system cancellation to unify opposition

PanARMENIAN.Net - The deputy head of Heritage opposition party named the joint statement with ARF Dashnaktsutyun urging for cancellation of majority electoral system in favor of proportional one among the most significant achievements in 2011.

“The statement signals the start of an important process to unify the opposition,” Ruben Hakobyan said.

As he noted, adoption of a proportional system will prevent accession of random people to Armenian parliament. Hakobyan also slammed the practice of non-inclusion of certain people in candidate list, lest they might harm the party’s ranking, yet electing them into the parliament through majoritarian districts.
