US PROCEEDED TO NAGORNO KARABAKH DEMOCRATIZATION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Speaking of the development of the South Caucasus it is impossible to disregard two serious problems, these being the blockade of the Turkish-Armenian border and the Karabakh issue, as president of the US Institute of Transitional Democracies, chairman of the US committee for the NATO issues Bruce Jackson stated during his visit to Nagorno Karabakh. As reported by Regnum agency, he met with NKR president Arkadi Ghukasian, parliament members and the command of the Defense Army of the republic in Stepanakert yesterday. In his words, the organization he heads is interested in prevalence of democracy of the region, as the Caucasus should become a part of Europe. "Many people in Brussels and Washington consider that the Caucasian issue can only be viewed after the presidential election in Azerbaijan, however we should be ready for discussion today, and we need information for it", - Jackson noted. At the same time he announced about his intention to cooperate with the non-governmental structures for the purpose of activating democratic processes in the South Caucasus.
