ARMENIA SUCCESSFULLY FULFILLS COMMITMENTS TO CE, PACE COMMISSION CONSIDERS

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia successfully fulfills commitments to the Council of Europe, which evidences, that the country will complete the process in time. Rapporteur on Armenia Rene Andre stated at a meeting of monitoring commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Paris. As chairman of the external relations commission of the Armenian parliament Armen Rustamian told journalists, at that R. Andre emphasized the importance of passing laws on alternative military service, ombudsman and mass information in the near future. In A. Rustamian's words, members of the monitoring group are concerned with the tension appeared in the Armenian society due to the deprivation of "A1+" and "Noyan Tapan" independent TV channels of broadcast licenses. R. Andre pointed out the need of reforms in the electoral system and improvement of the Electoral Code, so that omissions admitted in the course of the recent election in Armenia are ruled out in the future.
