Russia to give $10 billion to IMF as support to eurozone

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia will give $10 billion to the International Monetary Fund to support the crisis-hit eurozone, Russian Finance Minister, Anton Siluanov said on Friday, Feb 17.

According to RIA Novosti, Siluanov said that the money would be allocated by the Central Bank.

The minister added that Russia, the EU’s third largest trade partner, was ready to offer further funding for bailouts to the IMF.

“We are also ready to review the issue [about further contributions to the IMF] after other IMF members make decisions about their contributions,” Siluanov said.

In mid-December, Russian presidential aide, Arkady Dvorkovich said that Moscow was ready to contribute at least $10 billion to the IMF as “it hoped to keep its largest export market from collapsing.”
