Armenian vice speaker: public will judge RPA electoral list

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Assembly vice speaker Eduard Sharmazanov commented on the fact that relatively new members of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) are listed first in the party’s candidates list.

“There is no division between old and new Republicans in the party,” he said.

“RPA is not the political force to vie for overcoming the 5% barrier. RPA is the force to struggle for gaining the majority. In case of formation of the majority, all these MPs may be included in the future parliament,” Sharmazanov said.

Dwelling on inclusion of representatives of other political forces in the party’s candidates list, NA vice speaker said that RPA pursued the policy in previous elections, too.

The official noted inclusion of people who tend to pursue more effective activity as the key principle of the party when making the list.

“RPA works with those who are able to implement reforms,” he said, stressing the list as the one to withstand the challenges Armenia is expected to face in the coming 5 years.

“Election campaign aims to persuade the public. Society is a judge. If the latter is not confident of those included in the party list to implement reforms or changes, there are a number of other political forces that are set to run for the parliament,” the vice speaker said, commenting on the public attitude to the electoral list.
