KHOJALU TRAGEDY ORGANIZED BY AZERIS, NAGORNO KARABAKH PARLIAMENT DEPUTY ASSURED

PanARMENIAN.Net - Facts show that the Azeri party is to blame for the tragedy of Khojalu Azeri city population. It has coolly committed a crime for attaining certain goals in the political struggle for power between the People Front of Azerbaijan and the Republic authorities headed by Ayaz Mutalibov. Chairman of the commission on foreign affairs of the Nagorno Karabakh parliament Vahram Atanesian told "Arminfo" agency. In his words, the neutralization of the weapon emplacement points in Khojalu, where a significant contingent of the army and a large amount of military equipment were transferred in 1990-1991, as well as the release of the only airport of the Republic controlled by that settlement populated by Azeris, was an extremely important move for the physical survival of the population, whom Baku was trying to doom to death. The NKR authorities had notified the Azeri party that an operation for neutralizing the weapon emplacements was being prepared by them two months before beginning it, which was confirmed numerous times by Azeri officials, specifically by president Ayaz Mutalibov, well-known human rights proponent Arif Yunusov and others. "The availability of a corridor for timely and safe evacuation of civil population from the zone of military operations was declared a few days before the operation began," - the Karabakh parliamentary notes. Civil authorities of Khojalu, Aghdam and Baku, as well as the military were aware of the corridor. Nevertheless, the column of peaceful population was shot down on the avenue of approach to the Aghdam region border. This was later confirmed by Ayaz Mutalibov, who attributed the criminal act to the opposition attempts to remove him from power by laying the blame on him, the deputy noted.
